President Engineering Pty Ltd is a steel fabrication workshop in Clayton, making structural, architectural and general metalwork for Melbourne's builders, trades and industry.
Who we are
A workshop run by the people who do the welding.
Ring here and you get a fabricator — someone who can walk to the bench, look at the steel and tell you straight away whether your idea will work, what it will cost, and when it can be ready.
We started because too much fabrication work was being quoted by people who'd never cut the job. Drawings get taken literally when they should be questioned, site dimensions get assumed instead of measured, and the builder finds out on install day. That's the part we set out to fix.
We're not the biggest shop in Melbourne and we're not trying to be. We'd rather be the one you ring when the job is due Friday, the drawing doesn't quite match the site, and it still has to fit.

How we work
Four things we don't compromise on.
None of this is remarkable. It's just increasingly rare.
Measure, don't assume
Openings are never quite the size the plan says. We check on site before we cut, which is cheaper than finding out afterwards.
Say what's true
If a date is going to slip you hear it early. If a job would be better done another way — or by someone else — we say so.
Finish the job
Welds dressed, edges deburred, holes drilled, installed and handed over. Not "welded" and left for someone else to make right.
